3 Places to See Wildlife in Naples, Florida

Are you planning a visit to Florida? Florida is one of the most unique places in the United States, and many animal and plant species can only be found in the Sunshine State.
The good news is that there are plenty of places to go to view the wildlife in Naples. Below are three great places that you can visit in order to see some of Florida’s furry and wild residents in Southwest Florida.

1. CORKSCREW SWAMP SANCTUARY

This is on a preserve of 13,000 acres and it’s open from 7 am to 5:30 pm, with final admission being at 4:30 pm. You’ll find a pristine, gentle wilderness dating back over 500 years. There’s a boardwalk of over 2 miles going through habitats with wet prairie, pine flatwoods, going around the marsh and at last entering the largest Bald Cypress forest of old growth found on the North America continent.
These trees are huge and impressive, being related to redwoods, go 130 feet and their girth is 25 feet. The forest also is home to otters, alligators, red-bellied turtles and white-tailed deer. You will find a lot of different birds here, such as the raptors and painted buntings based on the time of year you visit.

2. BIRD ROOKERY SWAMP TRAIL

Officially opened back in July of 2011, this trail offers a lot of places to see wildlife such as Florida panthers, alligators, bobcats, white-tailed deer, otters and more. There’s 12 miles worth of biking and hiking trails, along with a boardwalk for those who’d rather walk or who are in wheelchairs. There are benches in the first 1.5 miles of the boardwalk and a portable toilet at its beginning.

3. FLORIDA PANTHER NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE

You’re going to find a lot of wildlife here. If you love birds, you can see birds like the swallow-tailed kite, crested caracara, northern bobwhite, wood stork, limpkin, and the brown-headed nuthatch here. Along with birds, you can see wildlife like Florida panthers and black bears and white-tailed deer.

FINAL THOUGHTS

These are three places that you can go when you want to see wildlife in Naples, Florida. They give you the up close and personal look at these fascinating creatures and let you see how they live their lives. What a great way to have some educational fun on your trip!
