7 Steps for Planning Weddings or Events in Naples

With its beautiful beaches, sunny skies, and customer-service culture, Naples is the perfect place to host a family gathering, college reunion, wedding, corporate event or other celebration.
Guests will have plenty to do and lots to enjoy before — and after — your party.

We’ve pulled together some tips, plus a list of handy local businesses, that will make your party planning easier and ensure that your guests have a great time. We get a lot of our ideas from clients who rent our Naples vacation houses and condominiums for their guest to stay in. And we get tips from Naples party planners involved in putting on events at our own rental estate in Golden Gates Estates, The Knickerbocker Vacation Retreat.

1. Finding the best location

The City of Naples website even has a list of great wedding locations on public beaches. They include the Wedding Beach at the end of Eighth Avenue South, and the beaches at the end of Vedado Way and Horizon Way. Note that ceremonies with a wedding party of 6 or more people will require a reservation and a use fee. The city lets wedding parties reserve the gazebos at Lowdermilk Park.

2. Pick your dates and times with an eye to the Naples weather.

If your heart is set on an outdoor party, you’ll want to avoid the risk of stormy weather between August 15 and October 1. Check the U.S. Climate Data website to see typical temperature and precipitation patterns for Naples, Florida. You may be surprised to see how reasonable the summer temperatures can be. With an average nighttime low of 73 in July and August, you might consider even the summer months for a patio party. Naples’ sunny, mild winters and springs are, of course, perfect for outdoor gatherings.

3. Save time with one-stop shopping for party supplies.

Parties and entertaining are a way of life in coastal Florida. As a result, there are plenty of places to get expert advice on tents, portable dance floors, or even special lighting for your event. Party Time Rentals is equipped to help you create a classic wedding or throw a fun theme party such as “Night in Paris” or “Hawaiian Luau.” Look to Naples Party Rental, part of All Event Party Rentals of Naples, for everything you need for a festive occasion or a successful business event.

4. Say it with music — from Mozart to Elvis

Yes, Naples even has its own DJ booking service — Allegro DJs. Whether your taste runs to Tom Jones and Frank Sinatra or dub step and hip hop, they’ll have a DJ and a playlist for you.
Prefer live music? The Naples Jazz website offers jazz ensembles and holiday carolers. You’ll find classical trios via the Gigmasters website and Gig Salad can help you book anything from a 80s rock band to, yes, an Elvis impersonator. (What can we say? Elvis is from Ft. Myers.)

5. Select a caterer who’ll make your party taste as good as it looks.

Again, a party city like Naples has no shortage of catering companies to make your party unforgettably delicious. Two of our favorite Naples caterers are Artichoke & Company and Here’s Howe Catering. If your event is informal, consider talking to Chef Herb, Naples’ renowned BBQ caterer.

6. Don’t forget the photography and videography to record your event.

Websites like Thumbtack.com and WeddingWire.com can help you select a photographer or videographer whose style matches your event. (We even spotted a photographer who specializes in “Hazardous, Unusual, and Special” events. Please don’t invite us to that party.)
If you’d like to try something a bit different for your celebration, try the fotobooth offered by Luminaire Foto. The photographer provides the theme backdrop of your choice, complete with an intriguing assortment of costumes and props; your guests get to stage their own scenes, and everyone enjoys the pictures later.

7. Make your guests comfortable — Naples Florida Vacation Homes can help.
