7 Things to do in Naples on the Weekend

Going to Naples for the weekend and wondering what you should plan on doing? We have some great suggestions on what you can do while you’re here. Below are seven great things to do while you’re visiting Naples.

7. GO WILD!

Even though you may think of Florida as a place that has a lot of beaches, and it does, its full of wildlife viewing opportunities. One of the best places to go in Naples is Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park. It offers reefs where you can snorkel, pristine beaches and gorgeous Gulf of Mexico views. Anglers and boaters have their own spaces designated for them and the concession stand offers rentals for water activities and sales of food and beverages. You can also go hiking to view gorgeous native birds and wildflowers or stroll on the beach to collect seashells to start your own collection.

6. VISIT THE ZOO

The beautiful Naples Zoo has a path that allows you to view over 70 animal species. You’ll also be able to see tropical gardens dating back to the year 1919, when the gardens first were planted for Dr. Nehrling, a botanist. You can view primates on their islands in the manmade lake from a catamaran. The mammal programs feature two-toed sloths, ocelots and hedgehogs. You even can feed a giraffe by hand! Love plants? 5. LET YOUR CHILD’S IMAGINATION SOAR

If you have children with you, one stop should be The Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples. This is a great place for kids to explore. They’ll be able to create a structure in the exhibit known as Build It. They also can create amazing art in the museum’s Art Studio, an exhibit which gives them learning hands-on through creation. There’s also an exhibit about the farm and about the Everglades and so much more. It doesn’t matter the age of the child – they’ll find something that they like.

4. SHOPPING

You’ll find some great stuff at Fifth Avenue South, the premier shopping, entertainment and dining spot. From things like Italian bistros to Irish pubs and raw bars, there are a lot of food choices here. The shopping options are also very diverse. There are a lot of choices here, from boutiques to the chain stores that are nationally known for their housewares, clothing, shoes and jewelry. There are almost 10 galleries on the street, and for entertainment there’s a theater and playhouse.

3. NAPLES BOTANICAL GARDENS

Along with its sandy beaches and tropical weather, Naples is also home to gorgeous botanical gardens. Here you’ll find 5 different gardens and three lakes. One of the gardens is the one in which botanical, cultural and spiritual Southeast Asia influences are found. Another garden is the one housing many gorgeous species of plants from Brazil. which houses plenty of colorful Brazilian plant species. These are simply a couple of the things that you’ll find at this wonderful garden, so come and see what it has to offer.

2. VISIT NAPLES OLDEST HOUSE

Historic Palm Cottage was built back in 1895 and it’s Naples’ oldest house. It’s made from tabby mortar, which is a blend of water, shells and sand. It stands two stories tall and it’s in 1982’s National Register of Historical Places. It’s also home to the educational headquarters of the Naples Historical Society. This is where locals and visitors alike are able to learn about Naples’ history. There are also Norris Gardens, where Naples’ history is told through the lens of a garden. Tours run Tuesdays – Saturdays 1pm to 4pm.

1. GO GOLFING

There’s more than 15 country clubs and golf courses in the area of Naples, so if you love golfing it’s a great place to go. From the gorgeous Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club, found just two miles from the downtown area of Naples, to Vineyards Country Club South, there are a lot of great places to play. Vineyards has 36 holes with sprawling, rolling and beautiful greens. It also has courts for bocce ball, tennis courts, options for dining and occasional concerts.
