The Fastest Way to Fly to Naples, Florida

Anybody who’s ventured this far south in Florida knows there is no easy way to get here other than flying.

Naples Municipal Airport

Our Naples Municipal Airport is served by a several air charter carriers, including Naples Air, Inc.; Naples Jet Center; Gulf Coast Airways; and ExecAir. But if you’re looking to get here via a scheduled commercial flight, you can’t do that through Naples airport. But don’t despair, we do have a couple of options in the area. You just have to drive a bit.

Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW)

The most obvious choice is Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers. Air travelers bound for the beaches of Naples and Marco Island often choose to fly into RSW, because it’s the closest airport. It’s only a painless 45 minutes south to the Naples area by way of I-75. One of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger service, RSW last year had more than 7.9 million travelers flying through.
Frontier Airlines has daily nonstop service between RSW and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. This expands Frontier’s nonstop service. Already, the Denver-based airline offers nonstop flights between Fort Myers and 7 other U.S. Cities, including Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Trenton, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C.
More news: Spirit Airlines begins daily nonstop service between RSW and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
If you’re renting your own transportation, there are 12 car rental companies to choose from: Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, EZ Rent-A-Car, Firefly, Fox Rent-A-Car, Hertz, National, and Thrifty.
Driving to Naples from RSW
TIP: The exit that take you easily to Downtown Naples is Exit 105 – CR 886 Golden Gate Parkway. (Don’t be fooled by the one that says Naples, Golden Gate … that’s Exit 107 – CR 896, which is Pine Ridge Road. It’s the next one south that you want…) Head west on Golden Gate Parkway and then head south on U.S. 41 (which is also called Tamiami Trail) to get to downtown.
Airport Transportation
If you’re opting for a taxi, MBA Airport Transportation, LLC is the taxi concessionaire for the Southwest Florida International Airport.
Fares are not metered. They’re regulated by the Port Authority and maximum prices are set according to zones. For instance, a trip to Downtown Naples for up to 3 people should not cost more than $70 (well… plus a few bucks for fuel surcharges). If you’re headed to North Naples (anywhere between Golden Gate Parkway and Vanderbilt Beach Road), then that fare should drop to no more than $60. Naples Park is even cheaper at $50 maximum. Prices are subject to change. We advise consulting MBA’s website for current pricing and other information on parties more than 3, splitting fares, and such.
The most user-friendly map, we think, of rate zones is found on the RSW website.
Limo Transportation
The Naples scene is all about style, so if you’re up for fancy, you can always reserve a limousine. There’s a long list (with some surprisingly affordable options) of companies which regularly travel between the airport and Naples. Check your options here.
Punta Gorda Airport (PGD)
The second area option is Punta Gorda Airport. Midwesterners take heed! You very well might find a better deal flying into Punta Gorda. Although smaller and served by Allegiant Air and Frontier Airlines, the airport is only about 70 miles from Downtown Naples.
Check out a growing list of destination cities on the Punta Gorda Airport’s website. Of note, there’s service from Allentown, PA, Asheville, NC, Belleville, IL, Cedar Rapids, IA, Cincinnati, OH, Columbus, OH, Concord/Charlotte, NC, Dayton, OH, Des Moines, IA, Fort Wayne, IN, Greenville/Spartanburg, SC, Grand, Rapids, MI, Harrisburg, PA, Huntington, WV, Indianapolis, IN, Kansas City, MO, Knoxville, TN, Lexington,KY, Louisville, KY, Niagara Falls, NY, Peoria, IL, Pittsburgh, PA, Raleigh/Durham, NC, Rockford, IL, South Bend, IN, Springfield, IL, Springfield/Branson, MO, Plattsburgh, NY, Portsmouth, NH, Trenton, NJ, Chicago O’Hare, IL, Philadelphia, PA, Trenton, NJ and Toledo, OH.
