3 Days of History in Southwest Florida

Do you have plans to visit Southwest Florida in the near future? Are you excited about everything there is to see and do in the area?
While it’s easy to get caught up in the warm weather, beautiful beaches, and top of the line cuisine, there’s something else to remember: Southwest Florida is home to some of the most intriguing history that the state has to offer.
In a matter of three days, you can soak up more history than you ever thought possible. Here’s a basic itinerary to point you in the right direction:

Historic sites to visit without leaving Southwest Florida

Day 1: Naples

While in Naples, take the time to visit the Collier County Museum. Its exhibits give you a thorough overview of what it was like in the local area more than 10,000 years ago.
You’ll learn about everything from the Paleoindians and mastodons to the Calusa and Seminole Indians.
From there, move onto a tour of Naples Historical Society’s Historic Palm Cottage. Not only is it the oldest house in the city, but there are also hundreds of artifacts that will captivate your mind.

Day 2: Marco Island

Once you’re done in Naples, take a short drive south to Marco Island. While there, here are some of the many sites to move to the top of your to-do list:

It doesn’t matter if you’re interested in indoor or outdoor learning, you’re sure to find plenty of opportunities on Marco Island.

Day 3: Everglades City

The first stop on your list should be the Museum of the Everglades. Its exhibits touch on the history of the west side of the Everglades, along with Collier County’s development nearly 100 years ago.
If you still have time in your schedule, check out the following:
