Sea Turtle Nesting in Naples

One of the most emotional and memorable experiences you can have in Naples happens quietly, at night, on the beach. Between May and October, sea turtles return to these shores to nest—often to the exact place where they were born. Seeing these gentle creatures in their natural environment is something truly special and not easy to forget.

Most of the turtles you may see are Loggerheads, and because they are endangered, the experience is carefully protected. The best way to witness it is through a guided night walk with local organizations or state parks. During these walks, it is possible to observe a mother turtle slowly coming ashore and preparing her nest in the sand—an incredibly calm and almost surreal moment.
