THE HISTORY BEHIND TIN CITY

Tin City got its name from the original tin-roofed buildings that still give the area its unique character today. Long before it became a shopping destination, this area was a busy working waterfront.The buildings were constructed in the 1920s and served as a hub for local fishermen and marine businesses. Over the years, Tin City operated as an oyster processing plant, fish market, and marine supply yard. Fishing boats would regularly dock here to unload their daily catches, making it an important part of Naples’ early economy and coastal culture.

Today, Tin City has transformed from a working fish market into a vibrant local marketplace filled with independently owned shops and businesses.
